Why do the refill packs have a metallic look? Is it compostable?

I so appreciate that this bag can completely fill my original glass jar. Makes me feel good about less waste.

I hated flossing before I got this floss. I look forward to flossing which I never thought I would every say that in a million years.
I love that it is black and you can see the plaque coming off your teeth.
My teeth have never been cleaner since I started using this. Also a big plus is that is it made in Italy.
