Is it safe to dip my toothbrush in the powder?
Our Mineral Toothpowder should not become contaminated, even when shared with family members.
Every ingredient naturally discourages the growth of harmful bacteria. In addition, the high PH (between 9 and 10) is another factor in limiting any type of contamination (bad bacteria typically can't thrive in a waterless, high PH environment).
Here are some tips:
- If you have any concerns at all, you can clean/rinse your toothbrush with hydrogen peroxide before dipping it into the powder (or use a UV sanitizer).
- The Akamai Bamboo Toothbrush works well with the powder since the bristles are not tightly packed (like conventional toothbrushes) so the toothbrush is almost always clean of any debris (just needs a rinse with water).
- Use a small plastic or wooden scoop to transfer toothpowder from the jar to your brush (do not use metal with clay).
- One jar of Toothpowder per person. We recommend that each person in a household has a jar of Toothpowder - this way you know that you are following a practice that you are comfortable with.
Did You Know? As many as 80 million bacteria are transferred during a 10-second kiss! Our oral microbiota along with our body's biome are greatly influenced by those closest to us, including our pets. Sharing your biome is beneficial, except when someone is sick.
