Black Balm is the go-to tool we developed to deeply moisturize, nourish, and aid in healing damaged skin. It leverages powerful bioactive compounds, antioxidants & organic plant oils.

But you may be wondering, why is it "black"?

When it comes to food, experts agree, “to eat the rainbow” for maximum health benefits — that goes for skincare too. Colors in fruits and vegetables contain phytonutrients, and these also benefit the skin.

Black Balm leverages key ingredients known to help improve skin conditions and irritation while speeding the healing of minor wounds and burns — and the black color of our balm is a byproduct of these ingredients.

The ancient soil of fulvic acid, chlorophyll from unrefined avocado oil, tamanu oil, and black cumin seed oil naturally color our “Black” Balm. These natural pigments pack a punch to help deeply moisturize, heal and repair skin.

How to use

  • Apply directly on any areas of the skin that need extra conditioning - from hands to arms, legs, face, lips. Apply to damp skin for extra hydration and to seal in moisture. To smooth over larger areas, add some Skin Fuel.

  • For help with skin conditions, apply 2x a day.

  • For harsh / drying winter conditions sun/cold/wind — apply to face (incl. lips) and hands.

Note: The natural pigments in fulvic acid could accumulate in skin that is overly dry, rough, or damaged (eg. callouses). It is not permanent and will fade over time or can be removed through exfoliation or soap.

  • Add a squirt of Skin Fuel to a dab of Black Balm to help spread over larger surfaces. This makes a kind of medium weight moisturizer.

  • Make a hair pomade: Combine a small dab of Mineral Toothpowder and Black Balm in the palm of your hand. (For a lighter hair pomade use Skin Fuel instead of Black Balm which is heavier and has a little wax).

  • The natural pigments in fulvic acid may temporarily discolor rough, extra-dry skin (like calluses or dry cracked hands) until the skin is healed. Your skin is sending the message that it needs first aid and our Black Balm can help. If this occurs, try exfoliating thoroughly before applying.

Q: Why offer a Balm, doesn’t Skin Fuel moisturize?

A: Our Skin Fuel is great as an all-purpose everyday light moisturizer to maintain healthy skin. It sinks in quickly and is non-greasy — even though it is oil. Black Balm, goes deeper into the skin, it’s richer, more nutrient-dense with powerful natural actives that can help heal the skin.

Q: Why black in color? (technically very dark green)

A: It just so happens that the best, most healing ingredients are deeply colored. Comes from the polyphenols and biologically active ingredients in unrefined avocado oil, tamanu oil, fulvic acid, and black cumin seed oil - all powerful healers.

Black balm

I bought this for my mom to use on some dry areas of her arms and so far she loves it!! Says seems to really be helping.

Many uses!

I love this product. I use it to tame my eyebrows, as a facial lotion and for my dry cuticles. Ive eliminated a lot of products with just this one balm. I like the glass jar it comes in as well. I use this with the Akamai oil as well.

Black Balm is amazing!

I've been using Black Balm for about a year, primarily during the winter months. It has kept my hands from drying and splitting. I love that it is not too greasy and absorbs quickly.

Scar repair

I recently had hip surgery and applied the black balm to my scars after suture removal. I also massage it into the scar tissue and my scars are almost invisible and it seemed to have really broken down the hard scar tissue. Love this!!

Healed my cracked lips after 3 applications over 10 hours.

Love this!

One of my favorite products! I used it to make a crusty patch on my arm go away. I live to use it after my shower when I need extra moisturizing. It works great and I feel good about using a product that’s not full of chemicals!

So far so good!

The smell is not my favorite but that’s probably just a natural scent due to the oils. I would prefer to not have the little beads in it.. not sure what those are. I like how the balm is a solid but kinda melts into an oil.. makes it easy for applying. Superrrr moisturizing and leaves skin soft.

Hi Britney!

Thank you so much for your review. If you have 'beads' in your balm it means that it was exposed to temperature changes (heat), which can cause the shea butter to bead up. We'd be happy to send you a new one if you'd like, or a store credit.

Please let us know!

Kindest regards,

The best

I was pleasantly surprised this stuff is amazing wow the results and it soaks right it to skin and makes my skin look so amazing and feel so wonderful its my new favorite product can’t live without!

Black balm

I’m 80 years old and am troubled with itchy bumps on my face and neck. As usual nothing from store shelf help at all. But this black balm is effective and smoothing. If you stay with it the bumps even go away but the black balm works so well you are tempted to stop continuing to apply the balm to the bumps. I’m not going to be without it.
